Frequently asked questions

How can photographs of the SOE KMDB's products be obtained?

Digital high-resolution photographs can be loaded from our site. To do this, click in the browser on the photograph you like. In doing so, in case you want to use the photo-graphs for commercial purposes, you must apply to the SOE KMDB for permission. As a rule, we give this permission on condition that our enterprise and our site (www.morozov.com.ua) is referred to in your publication. More details of the conditions of use of the information from our site are given under Declaimers and Information about Rights.

What do the words Kharkiv and Morozov used in the name of our enterprise mean?

Kharkiv is a city in the Eastern Ukraine. Our enterprise is located in this city, which is a large industrial and cultural centre. For those interested therein we have placed a page with several images of our city in our site. Morozov is the surname of Aleksandr A. Morozov who used to be the chief designer of our enterprise between the years 1940 and 1976. The SOE KMDB has been named after Morozov. More details are given under HISTORY in our site.

How often is the SOE KMDB's site updated?

The SOE KMDB's site is updated whenever there appear changes related to the information provided in the site. The most considerable changes are given under News.

Does the SOE KMDB participate in any defence equipment exhibitions?

In recent years the SOE KMDB has kept participating in the exhibitions as a part of the exposition of the UkrSpetsExport company. The exhibitions attended include: IDEAS (Pakistan), Eurosatory (France), IDEX (United Arab Emirates).
Occasionally our enterprise also participates in other international defence equipment exhibitions, including IDEF (Turkey), DSA (Malaysia).

Are the Oplot MBT and Yatagan MBT in service with the Ukrainian Army?

Nowadays the Ukrainian Army is equipped mostly with 125 mm armed MBTs (e.g., the up-to-date Oplot MBT developed by the SOE KMDB). The 120 mm armed MBTs (Yatagan) were being developed to meet the specific requirements of the countries that use NATO standards for weapons and ammunition.

Is the SOE KMDB involved in the training of foreign personnel?

The SOE KMDB is involved in the training of foreign personnel as well as providing training aids.
Training courses are provided covering all aspects of operation, maintenance and repair, as they have been designed both for the user and for the technician. These courses are held at Ukrainian Army training establishments in Ukraine, at the KMDB's own training facilities - where advanced technical training in repair can be provided - or, if appropriate, in the customer's own training schools and other in-country training facilities. Instruction can also be carried out in the facilities of the KMDB' subcontractors. Training of technicians is available to field and workshop levels of repair in mechanical and electrical parts, electronics, armament and instruments. Courses available for users cover operation, recovery, maintenance, and storeman skills. A full training equipment package has been developed for each vehicle, ranging from simple classroom aids such as wall charts and viewfoils to full size training simulators. The training equipment is designed to allow both operator and technician training to be carried out in an efficient and cost effective manner with minimum requirement to divert armoured vehicles from their operational role.
More details are given under Products/Products for Military Use/Training Aids.

Where is the performance of the newly-developed military vehicles tested?

KMDB has a proving ground with cross-country and road test tracks for full automotive trials, firing range, and premises with sophisticated test-benches for proofing various systems and units of armoured vehicles, both tracked and wheeled. Modern, purpose-designed test-bench rooms enable hot and dusty desert conditions to be artificially created to test the performance of vehicle power pack and other systems at ambient temperatures of up to +55°C. Computer analysis, modern laboratories, and advanced instrumentation are also available.
More details are given under About Us/Test Facilities.
