The Oplot MBT was selected as one of the contenders to meet the requirement for a new MBT
by Turkey (comparative evaluation trials in 2000), Malaysia (comparative
evaluation trials in 2000) and Greece (comparative evaluation trials in 1998). The
trials showed clearly that the Oplot MBT will be equally effective in the
very different conditions in Europe, Asia and elsewhere, as it is capable
of performing its role in all weather conditions in difficult
terrain.
