The KMDB developed a number of upgrade packages for the T-72 tank including T-72AG,
T-72MP and T-72-120.
The T-72AG was developed by using some key components of the T-84
and T-80UD MBTs.
The T-72MP was developed in cooperation with the French Sagem company and the
PSP Bohemia company of the Czech Republic. The tank was fitted with the French Sagem SAVAN15 fire-control system.
The T-72-120 was fitted with a 120 mm smoothbore gun to fire NATO standard ammunition
and a bustle-mounted automatic loader.
All three upgrade packages envisaged identical enhancements of the mobility (installation of a 1,000
hp or 1,200 hp diesel engine) and protection (installation of explosive reactive armour array and other
defensive aids).
The upgrade packages made it possible to considerably increase the T-72 COMBAT CHARACTERISTICS.
